 VENEZUELA SOLIDARITY COMMITTEE ORGANISES MEET

 

VENEZUELA TODAY

 

THE Venezuela Solidarity Committee of India organised a meet in New Delhi on December 20, 2013 on the occasion of the visit of Elias Jaua Milano, Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Relations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The meeting was chaired by A B Bardhan, senior leader of the CPI. Prakash Karat, CPI(M) General Secretary, S Sudhakar Reddy, CPI General Secretary addressed the meeting. They spoke of the strong solidarity ties that India has with Venezuela and hoped to strengthen the people to people and country to country solidarity with Venezuela in the future.

 

Elias Jaua Milano, speaking on the occasion, narrated how the process of Bolivarian revolution was galvanised under the leadership of Hugo Chavez. He talked about how in these past nine months, after the untimely death of Chavez, imperialism made all-out efforts to destroy the movement in Venezuela. He expressed hope that with people behind the movement, it will never get defeated.

 

Achin Vanaik, member of the Venezuela Solidarity Committee also addressed the gathering.

 

A book brought out by Venezuela Solidarity Committee titled, The Importance of Venezuela Today was released on this occasion. Prakash Karat handed over the first copy to Elias Jaua Milano.

 

CPI(M) Polit Bureau members Sitaram Yechury and A K Padmanabhan were also present in the meeting. A number of dignitaries and officials from many embassies, specially from Latin America also attended the meeting. In the end, Prof Sonya Surabhi Gupta, member of the Venezuela Solidarity Committee, proposed the vote of thanks.
