Tripura Left Front Announces Candidate List
TRIPURA Left Front,
on March 5, has
announced the names of the candidates for the two
parliamentary constituencies.
LF convener Khagen Das announced that the LF in its meeting on
March 5, has
unanimously decided on the names of the LF supported CPI(M)
candidates for Tripura
West (general) and Tripura East (ST) seats. From Tripura West
(general) seat LF
candidate will be CPI(M) state committee member since 2012 and CITU state
general secretary Sankar
Prasad Dutta. From Tripura East (ST) seat LF has fielded
Jitendra Choudhury,
currently the minister for forest, rural development and
industries and commerce
and CPI(M) state committee member since 1988 and member of
central kisan
committee of the AIKS.
The press conference
was attended by
CPI(M) state secretary Bijan Dhar, CPI(M) state secretariat
member Gautam Das,
CPI state secretary Prashanta Kapali and RSP state secretary
Sudarshan
Bhattacharya.
Khagen Das said the
decision to field
new and comparatively younger faces replacing him in Tripura
West and Bajuban
Reang in Tripura East seat was taken in view of the age and
ill health of both
the incumbent MPs.
He said the Congress
and BJP are two
sides of the same coin in terms of economic policies. BJP is
trying to push its
communal Hindutva agenda by projecting Modi as the prime
ministerial candidate.
We appeal to the electorate to make both our candidates
victorious by even
greater margins than last time so that they can voice the
urgent and legitimate
demands of the state in tune with the movements outside the
parliament to
clinch those demands including rail connectivity and other
aspects and at the
same time strengthen the possibilities of a non Congress, non
BJP political
alternative based on alternative policies, he said.
