Condolence Resolution

 

The recent meeting of the CPI(M) Central Committee, held at New Delhi on March 1 and 2, 2014, adopted the following condolence resolution at the outset.

 

Kali Ghosh

THE Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) pays homage to the memory of Comrade Kali Ghosh, member of the West Bengal state committee of the party.

 

Kali Ghosh became a full time trade union activist from his early days and led many struggles of workers. He was elected secretary of the CITU state committee in the year 1980. From 2003 to 2012 he was general secretary of the West Bengal state CITU.

 

He was elected one of the national secretaries of CITU in the year 1994 and continued in that position till the last conference of CITU in April 2013.

 

The Central Committee pays respects to his memory.

 

Daulat Ram

THE Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) pays tributes to the memory of Comrade Daulat Ram, member of the Uttar Pradesh state committee of the party.

 

Daulat Ram served as general secretary or president of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions for several terms. He was also a member of the CITU’s national working committee.

 

Born in the family of an ordinary textile worker of Kanpur, Daulat Ram was a part of textile workers’ struggle from the very outset. He organised and led various struggles of the organised and unorganised workers.

Mrinal Das

THE Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) pays homage to the memory of Comrade Mrinal Das, former member of the West Bengal state committee of the CPI(M).

 

Mrinal Das was an organiser of Bengal Provincial Students Federation (BPSF) and was elected its general secretary in 1970. Subsequently he joined the trade union movement and devoted himself to organising the unorganised sector workers throughout the state and led many important struggles. He was elected as one of the secretaries of West Bengal state committee of CITU in 1986 and also a national working committee member, and continued in that position till his death.

Parvathi Krishnan

THE Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) pays homage to the memory of Comrade Parvathi Krishnan, veteran leader of the Communist Party of India.

 

Parvathi became a full time worker of the CPI in the pre-independence days after returning from studies abroad. She was a prominent leader of the AITUC. She served twice as a member of the Lok Sabha and was also a member of the Rajya Sabha. She dedicated her entire life in the cause of the working class and the downtrodden.

 

The Central Committee of the CPI(M) pays respectful tributes to her memory.

 

Tavanam Chenchaiah

THE Central Committee pays homage to the memory of Comrade Tavanam Chenchaiah, former member of the Andhra Pradesh state committee of the party.

 

Chenchaiah was elected to the Andhra Pradesh assembly for two terms.

 

Karim Bhuyan

THE Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) pays homage to the memory of Karim Bhuyan, a member of the Assam state committee.

 

Karim Bhuyan wholeheartedly worked to organise the workers in the unorganised sector. He was the president of the All Assam Norman Shramik Union.
