CPI(M) Greets PdCI on its Seventh Congress
The following is the text of the message of greetings sent by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to the Party of the Italian Communists on its Seventh Congress (Extraordinary). The message was sent on July 20, 2013
ON behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) we greet the Seventh Congress (Extraordinary) of the Party of the Italian Communists. We wish you all the success and hope that your deliberations will help in the strengthening of the Party.
The world is going through a critical phase. The global economic crisis that had its genesis in 2008, is not showing any signs of abatement, in spite of all the attempts made by the ruling classes. The Marxist-Leninist analysis of the current crisis as a systemic crisis is vindicated. This only goes on to prove the relevance and validity of Marxism-Leninism as a scientific theory. Marxism-Leninism is not only a theoretical tool to analyse and understand the society but also a weapon for action, as Marx had famously put it: 'the point is not to interpret the world, but to change it'. It is upon us the Communists all over the world to work together towards bettering the world and ensure a systemic change socialism.
People around the world, in many countries, are coming out onto the streets and protesting. The economic hardships of the people caused by the blatant implementation of the neo-liberal policies are one of the major reasons behind the popular uprisings. The protests against 'austerity' in Europe, the anti-government protests in Turkey and the recent protests in Egypt are all manifestations of the latent anger among the people. It is upon us, Communists, to channelise this popular discontent against the root cause of their present predicaments capitalism.
Dear Comrades,
We are aware that this is not an easy task. The struggle has to be carried out not only at the work places, campuses, neighbourhoods but also at the ideological level. Imperialism and the ruling classes are putting into use all the forces at their disposal to retain their hegemony. De-politicisation, anti-Communism are some of the ideological offensives of the ruling classes, which are continuing with intensified efforts to break unions and the organisations that stand by the toiling people. Racist, fundamentalist and right-wing forces are trying to divert the discontent among the people for their sectarian and chauvinist ends. They are actively encouraged by the ruling classes in such nefarious designs.
Comrades,
Practising Marxism-Leninism had never been an easy path, strewn with roses it was always a thorny path laden with difficulties and remains so. Working consistently among the masses and correct application of Marxism-Leninism through concrete analysis of the concrete conditions is the only path that will lead us forward.
Italian Communists have a long and glorious history of fighting against all attempts to erase the legacy of Communist ideology and Communist party. We are confident that this Congress (Extraordinary) will carry forward this legacy, help in strengthening and consolidation of the Communists in Italy and lead the struggle for social transformation.
Long Live Marxism-Leninism
Long Live the Party of the Italian Communists
