Vilification Campaign Against CPI(M)

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 16.

FOLLOWING some press reports, Mamata Banerjee has launched a vilification campaign against the CPI(M) regarding a bank account of the West Bengal state committee.

The Polit Bureau wishes to clarify that the State Bank of India (SBI) account in the name of Biman Basu, member of the Polit Bureau and secretary of the West Bengal state committee of the CPI(M) and Nirupam Sen, member of the Polit Bureau of the CPI(M), is not their personal account but the account of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), West Bengal state committee.

The SBI account is fully reflected in the statement of accounts sent by the West Bengal state committee to the Central Committee. The amounts in the SBI account have always been incorporated in the consolidated statement of accounts submitted by the Central Committee to the Income Tax Department.
