HARYANA
CPI(M)
Workers Gherao Hansi SDM
Office
ON May
23, hundreds of
CPI(M) followers gheraoed the SDM office at Hansi to express
their anguish at
the indifferent and callous attitude of Haryana government
towards the basic
livelihood and social security issues. Before moving towards
the mini secretariat
building of the state government, CPI(M) state secretary
Inderjit Singh lashed
out at both the state and central governments for shamelessly
serving the
interests of the corporate sector, which was being described
as Bharat Nirman, at
the cost of the toiling masses of the country.
Singh
said the CPI(M) has
been stressing upon the government since long to reorient its
policies for
providing food security, education and health, land to the
landless, remunerative
prices for the crops of the farmers, and to end corruption.
The party has also
been demanding social justice for dalits, curb on sexual
assaults against women,
curb on the irregularities in MGNREGA, strict implementation
of labour laws
etc. But no heed was being paid to these genuine demands and
hence the party
had to call for a civil disobedience movement to defy the law.
The
speakers also
condemned police repression on the dismissed Maruti workers at
Kaithal and
demanded the immediate release of all arrested persons. Others
who addressed
the gathering included CPI(M) district secretary Pradeep Singh
and area
committee secretary Ram Avtar.
Later
the protestors moved
to the SDM office and laid a seize of both the entrance gates
of his office. The
SDM came out and assured the protestors that he was ready to
sit with the
leaders and sort out the problems. This led to the lifting of
the gherao.
