Narendra
Modi Must Quit

available from the documents available
from the Supreme Court ordered investigation into the
Gujarat carnage in
February 2002, provide clinching evidence of the deliberate
refusal of the Modi
government to act to prevent the mass violence against the
minority community,
in spite of repeated urgent messages and information from
police in different
areas.
It is
indeed a matter of
deep regret that the SIT chose to ignore such a damning
indictment of the state
government and gave a clean chit to Narendra Modi, raising
questions about its
own credibility. In the light of these documents which have
now come into the
public domain thanks to the efforts of Zakia Jafri, there
can be no doubt left
of the direct culpability of Narendra Modi as the main
accused who ignored
the warnings of his own police force and presided over the
violence. Justice
demands that the SIT final report be rejected and a fresh
charge sheet filed
including Narendra Modi as an accused.
The
documents are a
shameful and horrific record of the utter contempt of the
Modi government for
even the most minimum norms of governance.
The
CPI(M) demands that
Modi must resign as his continuance in office with access to
the state
machinery will enable him to subvert the judicial processes
which are on in the
