CPI(M) Protests BJP Govt’s Move on Rangayana

WHILE the Election Commission of India has announced the schedule of elections to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on March 20, 2013 and with this announcement the model code of conduct has come into effect, the government of Karnataka has violated this code of conduct by transferring the artists of Rangayana (Mysore) to Dharwad and various other places. Moreover, when the director of Rangayana protested against these transfers, he was removed from the post. This is a serious violation of the model code of conduct.

The Karnataka state unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has taken notice of and made strong objection to this action of the state BJP government. It has demanded immediate withdrawal of the orders for transfer of the artists and reinstatement of the director of Rangayana, Mysore. The CPI(M) has also urged the Election Commission to take cognisance of this violation of the code of conduct and direct the state government to withdraw the transfer and removal orders.
