CPI(M)
Greets
Cubans on the 54th Anniversary of Cuban
Revolution
THE Communist
Party of India (Marxist) greets the
people of Cuba
and the Communist Party of Cuba on the occasion of the
54th anniversary of the
Cuban revolution. The CPI(M) wishes all the very best to
the people of Cuba
in their endeavour to build a socialist
society in Cuba.
Located just 90
miles away from the US,
the world leader of imperialism, Cuba
steadfastly remained committed to the principles of
Marxism-Leninism and
scientific socialism. It has bravely fought back all the
imperialist efforts to
overthrow the revolutionary government, including
hundreds of attempts to
physically eliminate Commandante Fidel Castro. Cuban
revolution withstood the Bay of
Pigs invasion and the inhuman economic
embargo,
against which an overwhelming majority of the countries
continue to vote every
year in the UN General Assembly.
In spite of severe
hardships on the domestic front, Cuba
never
shied away from its internationalist obligations and
always stood first in
extending its help to the developing countries. The role
played by Cuba,
through
sending doctors to many countries when in distress,
speaks volumes of its
commitment to the cause of humanity. Cuba
shared its experiences of progress made in educational
sector with many
countries in Latin America
and helped them in
eliminating illiteracy. It is not an exaggeration to
state: 'while imperialism
sends soldiers around the world, Cuba
sends its doctors'. It is for
this international solidarity and fighting resolve, the
Cuban revolution, the
first of its kind in the continent of Americas,
continues to be a source
of inspiration to the people world over.
Cuban revolution
inspired the people of many countries
to fight against the imperialist aggression and
exploitation. Cuba
remains
the source of intellectual and ideological strength to
all the progressive
governments in the continent, which are basically
anti-imperialist and
anti-neoliberal in character. Cuba
stands true to the ideas of Jose Marti, whose 120th
birth anniversary will be
observed on 28 January 2013. It is the dream of
legendary freedom fighters like
Marti and Bolivar to unite the entire Latin America
in the fight against colonialism. Cuba
is standing firm in its commitment to realise these
dreams as against the Monroe
doctine of the US,
which stands for exploitation of the continent for the
benefit of the US.
In a world
continuing to reel under the impact of the
global economic crisis, imperialism is intensifying its
efforts to impose its
hegemony over the entire world. In this background,
expressing solidarity with Cuba
means
standing with the interests of the people of developing
countries and resisting
the pressures of the imperialist countries.
On this joyous
occasion of the 54th anniversary of the
heroic Cuban revolution, we once again extend our
revolutionary greetings and
express our solidarity with the people of Cuba.
