Huge Rally in Krishnanagar

Signals Discontent

THAT the discontent of people is growing in West Bengal was reflected in yet another massive rally in Krishnanagar in Nadia district on December 15.  Tens of thousands of people converged in Krishnanagar from all over the district, particularly younger sections. The rally, organised by CPI(M), was unprecedented in this district town in its hugeness. The meeting ground appeared too small and after a certain period, the Party leaders and the local administration requested the incoming marchers not to proceed towards the ground.

Peasants who are deprived of remunerative prices, villagers who have been cheated by spurious financial organisations, women disgusted with unending atrocities throughout the state have rallied to voice their grievances.

Leader of opposition Suryakanta Misra echoed the mood of the rally and said that  the people of the state are going through a process of disillusionment. In the last assembly elections, there was a multi-coloured alliance against the Left. Now, within 18 months, many allies, including Congress have abandoned TMC. The terror that was unleashed against CPI(M) has now spread against the other political parties, individuals, different sections of people. Even TMC workers are not safe in the party as the group clashes have sharpened.

Mridul De, CC member of the Party, Sumit Dey, district secretary, Rama Biswas, state committee member, Ashu Ghosh, former district secretary were among the speakers.
