DYFI Chalks Out Action Plan

 

MEETING at New Delhi on November 2 and 3, the Central Executive Committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) decided to launch militant struggles against the anti-people, neo-liberal policies the UPA government is aggressively pushing. Hikes in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG have increased inflation manifold and the sufferings of the masses. The committee also discussed the impact of FDI in retail trade, civil aviation, banking and insurance sectors, farmers’ suicides drastic reductions in subsidies for the poor, huge concessions to the corporate sector and the removal of Jaipal Reddy from the petroleum ministry as per the dictate of the Reliance.

 

The DYFI has decided to launch a nationwide agitation against these polices. On November 26, DYFI activists will picket various central government offices for three hours. On March 23, the day of martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, thousands of young people will come to Delhi to “Occupy Parliament Street,” raising the Save India slogan. Eminent intellectuals, artists, cultural activists and writers will participate in the programme that would be the beginning of a nationwide movement. In connection with this, DYFI will organise People’s Tribunals in various part of country in which representatives of various sections affected by the policies will depose their experiences before the panel of eminent citizens.

 

The DYFI has also decided to launch a nationwide campaign on social issues such as caste oppression, dowry and increasing violence against women. The DYFI will also observe the death anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar on December 6 and Vivekananda Jayanti on January 12 across the country. The martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30 will be observed as the Day Against Communalism.

 

A delegation of the DYFI central leadership will visit the refugee camps in Assam on December 1 and 2, in order to will hand over the fund collected for helping the refugees of ethnic and communal violence.
