Protesters Court Arrest in Bhavnagar

 

AT Bhavnagar, 557 picketers, led by CPI(M) state secretary Arun Mehta, courted arrest at on September 12, while participating in a civil disobedience picketing as a part of all-India action of the CPI(M). They were demanding 35 kg of foodgrains at Rs 2 per kilo price to every family, pointing out that crores of tons of foodgrains are only rotting in godowns.

 

The picketing volunteers were arrested after they declared their intention and proceeded to break the locks of the godown where foodgrains were stocked.

 

Others who participated in the picketing and court arrest programme included Nalini Jadeja, Hansaben Bariya, Manguben Pachhamiya, Zarinaben Daliyawala, Kanjibhai Chudasama, Kishanbhai Chudasama, Mansukhbhai Bariya, Laljibhai Parmer and Jayubha Gohil.
