Protest Actions in Delhi

ON September 15, CPI(M) activists organised demonstrations, road blockades and effigy burning in several areas of Delhi in order to protest against the hike in diesel prices and the decision to restrict the supply of ‘subsidised’ LPG cylinders to just six per family per year.

Over 150 protestors, including a number of women, blocked the Dabri-Dwarka Road in South-West Delhi for 30 minutes and burnt an effigy of the prime minister.

Similar actions were held in Mangolpuri and Jahangirpuri in North West Delhi.

In North East Delhi, CPI(M) activists blocked traffic at Nanaksar and Seemapuri Chowk and burnt effigies of the PM and the petroleum minister. Similar actions were held in Manakpura in Central Delhi and Badarpur in South Delhi.

In areas neighbouring Delhi, CPI(M) activists blocked traffic and burnt effigies of the PM at Maliwara Chowk in Ghaziabad City, Link Road in Sahibabad, Kasba Chowk in Loni and Baans Balli Market in NOIDA Phase I.

A number of ordinary people took part in these actions, giving vent to their anger against the UPA government’s utterly callous disregard to the condition of the aam aadmi suffering from unabated price rise, especially in food items.
