Message from
the Communist Party of
DEAR Comrades,
Your
national congress is being held in the background of a shift in the
world order
from unipolarity to multipolarity, a change in the world balance of
forces and
the gravest global economic crisis. The contradiction between
imperialism and
the people is sharpening and manifesting itself in various forms.
In
spite of positive developments in the first decade of the 21st century,
in
contrast with the last decade of the 20th century, the world continues
to face
the challenges of poverty, inequality and insecurity, with disastrous
consequences.
Frustrated
by their incapacity to find solutions to their economic woes, the
imperialist
forces, under the changed world balance of forces, are resorting to
sophisticated methods of destabilising the developing countries in
their quest
for wealth and resources, through a policy of regime changes.
The
weakened world trade union movement has provided political space for
the imperialists
to operate in alliance with the right-wing forces. Under the pretext of
good
governance, and human rights, imperialists are also resorting to
interference
in the internal affairs of developing countries through foreign funded
INGOs
and NGOs, causing splits in the mass movements and creating ideological
confusion.
Taking
into account the above global and domestic developments, the Communist
Party of
India (Marxist) is called upon at its 20th national congress to
formulate
appropriate tactics in its struggle of facing the impending challenges.
We
highly appreciate your initiatives to build a Left and democratic
alternative,
drawing the widest possible unity of the Left and democratic forces. In
the
background of the recent assembly election results, the need for such
an
alternative is imperative.
The imperialists,
in the context of the changed world balance of forces, are attempting
to use
any possible contradiction between states, as a leverage to pursue
their global
strategies and geopolitical interests. The Anglo-Saxon hegemony of
imperialist
forces is adopting this strategy fiercely in the Asian continent. The recent developments in the SAARC region
eloquently provide evidence. It is presumed that your congress would
focus
attention on these developments.
In
the context of these developments, the Communist Party of Sri Lanka is
deeply
convinced of the imperative need for better understanding and closer
relations
with the Indian communist movement.
It
is, more than ever, necessary for our two parties to ensure the
consolidation
of our friendly and traditional relations between our two peoples,
taking into
account the imperialist intrigues to effect a regime change in
The
CPSL hopes that your deliberations at the 20th national congress will
provide
the ideological clarity, organisational unity and political strength
much
needed for achieving a viable alternative leadership to the country.
The
CPSL reiterates its commitment to strengthening further the mutual
understanding and relations between our two parties, a much needed
factor to
consolidate the friendly, long and traditional relations between our
two
peoples and states.
Long
Live the CPI(M)!
With
fraternal greetings,
