Message from the Communist Party of Cuba

ON the occasion of the holding of the 20th congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba conveys its revolutionary greetings to all leaders and members who participate in this great event.

Mankind is facing big challenges amidst military imperialist aggressions and wars aimed at overthrowing governments that are no related to their hegemonic interests by exacerbating border, ethnic and religious conflicts. Together with this, there is a degradation caused by the climate change which is endangering the very existence of mankind, now aggravated by the deepest world financial crisis. 

Under these circumstances, the struggle of our parties and peoples plays a decisive role in order to safeguard national independence, sovereignty and identity, as well as a more just world that guarantees peace, social justice and the life of our peoples.

The Communist Party of Cuba, together with the people, is engaged in a far-reaching process for the revolution: the updating of the economic and social model to guarantee the present and future socialism. After a wide popular debate, the sixth party congress outlined the priorities and objectives, and the first national conference of the party gave continuity to the political strategy in order to make progress in this undertaking.

Our experience in building socialism is not just free education and health care, but also the high scientific level accessible to all and the solidarity with other peoples. It is also the ability to renew and readjust itself to the new times and the courage to face and resist the economic and financial blockade imposed for more than half a century. It is to fight tirelessly for the return to our homeland of the Five Heroes unjustly incarcerated in US jails.

It is the unity of our people around the party which has allowed us to face the huge challenges during these 54 years of revolution.

With full conviction of the fairness of our socialist principles and ideals, we reiterate to you our wishes of success in your work and, at the same time, we reaffirm our commitment to continue developing the links between the Cuban and Indian communists. We are grateful for the unforgettable expressions of true friendship and solidarity towards the Cuban Revolution and we reaffirm that Cuba will continue building its socialist road.
