AIDWA
Flays TOI Report on Aarushi Murder
THE All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA)
has expressed its deep sense of shock over the report published in The Times of India on January 7, 2012,
which carried lurid and objectionable details of the CBI report on the
Aarushi
murder case.
In
a statement issued from New
Delhi
on the day, the AIDWA pointed out that the article, titled
“Hemraj-Aarushi Intimacy
Proved Fatal,” blatantly highlighted the name of a young girl, along
with
descriptions of her alleged sexual behaviour, and the alleged actions
of her
mother, which were graphic and gory but have not been proved in court.
The
publicising of a CBI report on such a sensitive matter, relating to a
young
child of 14 years who was done to death, violates all norms of decency.
It
casts aspersions on Aarushi’s character and defames her. This is
patently
against the law. Those responsible for this leakage must be held
accountable
for their action. The publicity given to such a report by a reputed
newspaper
like The Times of India is also
highly objectionable, the AIDWA statement added.
In
the meantime, the AIDWA has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice
of
India in protest against this violation, demanding action against the
newspapers
which have carried this report defaming and maligning a young girl’s
character.
It has also strongly urged the CJI to take action against those who are
responsible for leaking the CBI report.
