ON TO 20TH PARTY CONGRESS

Organising Committees, Subcommittees Formed

ATTENDED by a large number of people, a huge meeting held at Kozhikode Tagore Centenary Hall, Kozhikode, on November 16, constituted an Organising Committee for the successful conduct of the 20th congress of the CPI(M). The congress is scheduled to take place at Kozhikode from April 4 to April 9 in 2012.

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan presided over the meeting while V V Dakshina Murthy presented the panel of the office bearers of the Organising Committee, which was unanimously accepted by the meeting. Elamaram Karim described the various programmes to be held in connection with the party congress.

T P Ramakrishnan welcomed the audience and P Sathe devi proposed the vote of thanks.

The Organising Committee has Padmashri O N V Kurup and Padmashri P K Varier as its patrons and Pinarayi Vijayan is its chairman. He will be assisted by T P Ramakrishnan as its general secretary and Elamaram Karim as its treasurer, among others.

The following subcommittees, each with a chairman and a convener, have also been constituted for the same purpose. They are the exhibition committee, seminar committee, reception committee, propaganda committee, accommodation committee, food committee, cultural activities committee, a committee to look after the decoration and arrangement of the congress venue, one for arranging a public meeting at the beech, a book exhibition committee, a transport committee, and a committee to take care of the volunteers. A souvenir committee, a sports committee, a health services committee and a media committee have also been constituted.
