Bullet in Congress MLA’s Bag

Anil Dhanwantari, an MLA in Haryana and an envoy of Mr Rahul Gandhi during his tour to Tripura, was arrested by the CISF jawans at Agartala Airport when he was returning to Delhi on November 10. During the checking, a bullet was detected in his handbag. Dhanwantari could neither show a valid license nor clarify as to how the bullet came into his bag.

But then the state Congress leaders, who had come to the airport to see him off, began to press the CISF authorities to set him free. The latter could not resist the pressure from Ratanlal Nath, Congress MLA and leader of the Opposition, and Sudip Roy Barman, another Congress MLA. They set Dhanwantari free and allowed him to board the plane. The Congress leaders argued that Dhanwantari does possess a gun license and the bullet remained in his luggage out of ignorance.

But if this is the fact, the question arises: how come it evaded the scanners at three airports during his incoming journey? The CISF handed over the seized bullet to the airport police who submitted the bullet to the court. The court ordered the OC of the Airport Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident and submit the investigation report to the court by November 25 next.
