Left Candidate in Haryana Bypoll

 

THE Left parties have jointly put up a candidate to contest the by-election on the Ratia (reserve) seat. The announcement was made at Ratia in a meeting of party workers by CPI(M) state secretary Inderjit Singh.

 

The CPI(M)’s Fatehabad district secretary Ramkumar Bahbalpuria has been nominated as the candidate of the Left parties. He filed his nomination on October 8 before the returning officer at Ratia.

 

While briefing the media, Inderjit Singh and Sampuran Singh Puri, CPI district secretary, stated that the Left has been in the forefront of launching struggles for the grievances of local population in this region and particularly on the issues concerning the livelihood of poorer sections and those related to defence of social justice.

 

The two leaders said the Left parties would soon announce their stand regarding Adampur seat. The speakers in the workers’ meeting hailed the formation of an alternative political platform comprising of the Left, PPP, Akali Dal (Longowal) etc to effectively counter the Congress as well as the Akali Dal (Badal)–BJP combine for the ensuing elections to the Punjab assembly.
