CPI(M) Condoles Com Vo Chi Cong

 

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) sent the following message of condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on the passing away of Comrade Vo Chi Cong, former president of Vietnam.  Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member, Head of the International Department of the CPI(M) and Hari Singh Kang, CPI(M) Central Secretariat member went to the embassy and signed in the visitors book on September 12, 2011.

 

THE Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its immense sorrow on the passing away of Comrade Vo Chi Cong, former president of Vietnam and former member, Polit Bureau, Communist Party of Vietnam.

 

Comrade Vo Chi Cong, joined the anti-colonial struggle against the French colonialists at a young age of 18 and fought heroically against the French. He endured many difficulties bravely throughout his life and served jail term for his anti-colonial resistance activities.

 

Comrade Cong who joined the Communist Party of Indo-China in 1935, was also the founding member of the Vietcong and played a prominent role in the war against US imperialism. He served the country and the party exemplarily in various capacities.

 

The CPI(M) pays its respectful homage to the departed leader and offers its sympathies to the Communist Party of Vietnam, family members of Comrade Cong and all the people of Vietnam in this hour of grief.
