Comrade Julio Casas Regueiro

 

ON September 6, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) condoled the death of Comrade Julio Casas Regueiro, vice president of Cuba and member of the Polit Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party.

 

Sitaram Yechury, member of the Polit Bureau and head of the International Department of the CPI(M), went to the Embassy of Cuba in India and paid homage to the departed leader. He handed over the condolence message on behalf of the Central Committee of the CPI(M) to Eduardo Iglesias Quintana, charge de affairs of the embassy and signed the visitors book.

 

Hari Singh Kang, member, Central Secretariat of the CPI(M), and R Arun Kumar, member, International Department of the CPI(M), accompanied him.

MESSAGE

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing away of Comrade Julio Casas Regueiro, member of the Polit Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party, vice president of the Council of the State and minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces.

 

Comrade Regueiro, one of the founders of the Cuban Communist Party, played a heroic role in the struggle against the Batista dictatorship. He lived an exemplary life dedicated to the consolidation of the Cuban revolution and socialist construction. His death at this critical juncture is a great loss not only to the Cuban Communist Party, but also to socialist Cuba.

 

The CPI (M) dips its banner in memory of the departed comrade and conveys its heartfelt sympathies to the Cuban Communist Party and his family members.
