CPI(M) Office Attacked in Nalgonda

CPI(M)-CPI Jointly Condemn the Attack

A few miscreants barged into the Mandal Committee office of CPI(M) in Bhuvanagiri mandal, in Nalgonda district on July 6, 2011 and tried to set fire to it. They damaged furniture and broke glass panes. The state committees of CPI(M) and CPI have strongly condemned this attack and termed it anti-democratic. On Tuesday and today, pro-Telangana activists held dharnas in front of the residence of CPI(M) MLA from Miryalaguda constituency and in front of the district committee office in Nalgonda.

In a joint statement issued in Hyderabad, CPI(M) state secretariat member S Veeraiah and CPI secretariat member Ramakrishna asserted that it is natural that political parties would have differing views on various issues. But to try to forcefully impose the views of one party on another would be anti-democratic. They called upon the state level and district level leaderships of the political parties concerned to restrain their lower level cadre and make them desist from such heinous attacks.

The leaders of CPI(M) and CPI felt the irresponsible stand of Congress central leadership resulted in plunging the state once again into political crisis and tense situation. They criticised the UPA government and Congress leadership for not taking any action to resolve the issue of division/integrity of the state despite the fact that movements have been going on since the last two years. They also criticised the opportunistic stand of the central government/Congress in not taking a call on Justice Srikrishna Committee report that was submitted six months ago. Instead of taking steps to solve the issue, trying to use police repression to suppress the movements is condemnable, they stated. The CPI(M) and CPI leaders demanded from the central government immediate steps to solve this issue and restore peace in the state.
