Appeal for West Bengal Solidarity Fund
THE
CPI(M) and the Left are under tremendous attack in West
Bengal after the assembly elections. Sixteen CPI(M) and
Left Front
activists have been killed since the
election results came out. Hundreds of people have been injured in
physical
attacks. Scores of party offices and trade union offices have been
attacked or
captured. Many of the party cadres had to leave their homes because of
threats
and intimidation. The TMC-Congress government has shown no interest
whatsoever
in curbing this violence.
The
Central Committee has given a call to all party units to collect funds
to
support the families of those killed, injured and displaced in these
attacks.
It appeals to all supporters and those concerned with democratic rights
to contribute
to the fund.
Cheques/drafts
may be made in the name of West Bengal State
Relief Committee and sent directly to
