INTUC Leader to Ms Mamata on TU Rights

Dr G Sanjeeva Reddy, president of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and a member of Rajya Sabha, wrote the following letter to Miss Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, on May 29, 2011.

I HAD a meeting with all the Central Trade Union leaders today at my office to discuss various problems faced by the trade unions and the workers. During the discussion it is observed that a large number of unions have pointed out that after the political change in the West Bengal, the right of the trade unions has been badly attacked in various regions.

Hence, I would earnestly request you to kindly ensure that the right of the trade unions may be protected irrespective of the affiliation with central trade unions.
