DALIT
GIRL’S MURDER IN HARYANA
CPI(M)
Lambasts Police Apathy
THROUGH a
statement issued
from Rohtak on May 11, the Haryana state committee of the Communist
Party of
India (Marxist) has expressed deep anguish over the failure of the
police to
apprehend the culprits who had in the preceding week perpetrated the
most
heinous crime of abduction, rape and murder of a school girl in
Kurukshetra. Through
this press statement the party’s state secretariat said that ordinary
citizens of
the state were compelled to live in utmost fear in the wake of an
unprecedented
spurt in crime all over the Haryana, especially during the recent
months.
The party has
cited that
display of mass protest in Kurukshetra against this gruesome murder of
a dalit
school girl was enough testimony to the anger brewing among the common
people
against the callous attitude of the police in general and in this case
in particular.
The CPI(M) has asked the chief minister, who is in charge of the home
department also, to come out with effective steps to restore the sense
of security
among the common people.
The CPI(M)
has stated that
women in general and the women of dalit and other weaker sections in
particular
are bearing the brunt of worst sexual assaults and other form of
violence. The state
units of the CPI(M) and CPI have resolved the work for contacting
political
parties, mass organisations, social groups and general public towards
forging a
wider platform in order to launch an effective mass campaign for
security of
life and property of the common people.
