J&K CPI(M) Condemns Scholar’s Murder

THROUGH a statement issued from Jammu on April 8, by its Jammu & Kashmir state secretary, M Y Tarigami, the CPI(M) has expressed profound grief over the killing of noted religious leader, Islamic scholar and intellectual, Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah, president of the J&K Jamiat-i-Ahl-e-Hadees.

Describing the killing as a heinous and barbaric act, the CPI(M) statement said  Moulana Showkat’s unfortunate death is a big tragedy for all the people as the religious luminary was a highly respected figure in society. Words fail to condemn this barbaric murder. Only enemies of Kashmir and its people would benefit from such heinous acts.

Joining the millions of mourners in this hour of grief, the party has appealed to the people of the state to raise their voice against the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
