‘Maoist’-Trinamul Special

Joint Committee Formed

B Prasant

UNTIL now, everything was carefully under a somewhat porous fig leaf.  Now, the alliance has been taken out of the shed into the light, and the sight is ugly.  The Trinamulis, long known for their fondness for the ‘Maoists’ and, of course, the ‘Maoists’ always reciprocated in kind of sorts, have always harped on the theme that the ‘Maoists’ did not exist, and also the ‘Marxists’ were ‘Maoists.’  In between, a central Congress minister has advised the CPI(M) to become ‘Maoists,’ adding to the confusion all around in the squabbling opposition in Bengal.

Enthused at the recent killings organised by the ‘Maoists’ afresh in the jangal mahal, the two politically likely allies, each is a stern opposition to democracy, and each swears by violence, the Trinamulis approached the ‘left’ renegades leading to the formation of a special joint committee that would ‘operate,’ and the thought leaves us shuddering and apprehensive, in the localities of Midnapore sadr, Binpur I, Salboni, and Goaltore.

We learn that the unfortunate incident at Netai was followed by a carefully-crafted plan hatched on 18 January when a Trinamuli MLA led a discussion with ‘Maoists’ on the visit of the Bengal Governor to Netai the next day, the corporate media was appropriately briefed.  This was the core step that led ultimately to the formation of a joint committee between the ‘left’ terrorists and their reactionary scouts.

The committee includes Trinamuli hatchetman like Tanmay Roy and Dilip Sen as well as ‘Maoist’ killers like Santosh Mahato and Tapan Mondal – none of whom belong to or represent the tribal communities, it may be noted.  The first task of the committee has been to carry on killing sprees in the Belatikari and Andharia areas, and we note that at least seven CPI(M) workers have been killed in this small pocket over the recent months.

In the meanwhile, there is a tragic story to relate.  The sniffing around of canines on a bend of the Kangsabati River led to the shocking discovery of the last remains of CPI(M) worker comrade Mohd Ali who had been forcibly taken away at gunpoint a week or so back by the ‘Maoists,’ and had been missing since. The comrade had been kidnapped not far away from Sardiha, once a ‘Maoists’ killing pasture.  When kidnapped, comrade Ali was with another CPI(M) worker, Hamir Mullick – and the worst is apprehended about him also.
