CPI(M) to
Have Campaign Week on Scams Issue
THE
The
information comes from
a statement issued by Charan Singh Virdi, secretary of the CPI(M)’s
state unit,
from
The party,
according to
the statement, has decided to conduct at least 20 public rallies in
each
district in the said period. The aim of these rallies is to bring to
the notice
of the people all the noxious details about these and other scams.
While
exposing the
misdeeds of the ministers in the UPA government and other top leaders
of the
Congress party, these rallies would also highlight the corruption cases
involving the BJP leaders in Karnataka and other states where this
party is in
power.
Linking these
numerous
scams with the neo-liberal policies which the central and many state
governments are pursuing today, Virdi said the unholy nexus of the
multinational companies, indigenous monopoly bourgeoisie, contractors,
corrupt
politicians and bureaucrats is looting with open hands the public
sector that
was developed with the swat and blood of the common people, and it is
the
latter who are being made to bear the burden of all this loot in the
form of
excruciating price rises and the like. The CPI(M) leader said the
week-long
campaign of the party would demand identification of the culprits in
these
scams and due punishment to them. The campaign will also demand
constitution of
a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to go to the depths of the 2G
spectrum
scam. In this connection, Virdi asked why the prime minister is feeling
shy of
constituting a JPC to probe this scam if his government has been doing
everything transparently as he claims.
The party has
asked all
its lower units to gear up for this campaign and mobilise people in
large
numbers on the campaign’s demands.
