Chinese Leader Meets Left Parties

 

 

COMRADE Zhou Yongkang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China visited India from October 31 to November 2, 2010. He came at the invitation of the government of India. He had a meeting with general secretaries of the Left parties –  Prakash Karat of the CPI(M), A B Bardhan of the CPI and Debabrata Biswas of the AIFB – on November 1.  The Left leaders expressed the hope that relations between the two countries would continue to strengthen. They referred to the recent meeting of the Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh with the Chinese prime minister Wen Jiabao in Hanoi where discussions were held for further steps to develop all round relations. The three Left parties are having close fraternal relations with the CPC.

 

Zhou Yongkang expressed satisfaction with the developing relations between the two countries who are playing an important role in world affairs. He noted that bilateral trade between the two countries will touch the $60 billion mark this year.
