AIDWA Condemns Murder of  Chabi Mahato

 

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has issued the following statement on September 2

 

THE All India Democratic Women’s Association condemns the horrifying and brutal gang rape and murder of  Chabi Mahato, in Salbani village of East Midnapore district, West Bengal, by Maoists and members of the PCPA. This woman from a poor household who had lost her husband seven years ago was an anganwadi worker, a member of AIDWA, and a CPI(M) supporter who had refused to join a PCPA procession before the Lalgarh rally. She was abducted from her house in Bhangabandh – a tiny tribal hamlet- at gun point about three weeks ago. Her body was discovered on August 31st, and post mortem reports have confirmed gang rape. The police suspect that she was raped by the miscreants belonging to the maoist and TMC combine and buried while she was still unconscious.

 

This shocking atrocity exposes the inhuman and barbaric nature of crimes against women being perpetrated by the anti left forces in West Bengal. AIDWA demands stern action against the perpetrators, and calls for solidarity action by AIDWA units across the country.
