Condolence Message
Prakash
Karat, general secretary of the CPI(M) has sent the following
condolence message on the death of Comrade Bidya Debbarma on June 18.
I was deeply grieved to
hear the news
of the passing away of Comrade Bidya Debbarma. He was an outstanding
leader of
the CPI(M) and the Ganamukti Parishad in Tripura. Bidya Debbarma began his political life in the Janashiksha
Movement along with Comrade Dasaratha
Deb in 1945. He played a leading role in
the armed struggle against the feudal
rule. Bidya Debbarma has served six
terms as a legislator in the state assembly.
Comrade Bidya Debbarma
belongs to
that generation of leaders who, by their sacrifice and devotion, helped
to
build the Communist movement among the tribal people of Tripura. He
spent more
than nine years in jail and 13 years underground. In
view of the long and distinguished service
to the Party, he was a special guest at the 19th Congress of
the
Party.
His life was an example
which will
always inspire future generations.
On behalf of the Polit
Bureau, I pay
tribute to his memory and convey our heartfelt condolences to his
family
members.
