Picketing For
Land &
Pattas: 50,000 Arrested
Demanding free house site pattas
for the poor and two
acres of cultivable land for the landless marginal and small farmers,
more than
50,000 farmers and agricultural workers including several thousands of
women,
courted arrest in a state wide picketing action on 1March.
The Tamilnadu Vivasayikal
Sangam, affiliated to AIKS
and Tamilnadu state committee of AIAWU jointly organised the protest,
charging
that the DMK government in the state totally failed to implement its
electoral
promises on land and pattas for the poor.
