Jyoti Basu Critical But Shows
Slight Improvement
B Prasant
The veteran Communist leader
Jyoti Basu has shown
improvement on the evening of January 6, 2010 from what he was in,
during the
late morning hours. The medical board
belives that while JBs present condition continues to be
critical, he has
shown some positive changes, from the state of his medical health in
the
morning. JB continues to be on a
ventilator.
The medical board makes it clear
that Jyoti Basu was
admitted to the medical institution at Salt Lake with pneumonia, and
that the
six-member medical board is constantly monitoring his condition.
In between a TV channel jumped
the gun early in the
afternoon, to announce the demise of the Communist veteran, and later
had to run
a ticker to the contrary, also advising viewers in a show of irritating
gratuitousness that the people may not give heed to rumours.
The medical board meets tomorrow
morning and would
issue a medical bulletin at 11:30 AM.
