 BSNL-DoT Pensioners to

Launch Nationwide Agitation

THE All India BSNL-DoT Pensioners Association (AIBDPA) has decided to launch a nationwide agitation to settle the genuine demands of the pensioners. As a first step it would hold a nationwide dharna on January 29, 2010 in all state capitals and district headquarters.

The central committee of AIBDPA took this decision at its meeting in New Delhi on December 14, 2009 after thoroughly reviewing the negative attitude of the central government.

The following are some of the main demands of BSNL-DoT pensioners:

1.     Merger of 50 per cent Industrial Dearness Relief with pension

2.     Revision of pension

3.     Anomaly in pension

4.     Move of the central government to revise the pension on CDA pattern instead of IDA pattern

5.     Fixed medical allowance of Rs 1000 to the DoT (Department of Telecom) pensioners.

President of the association A K Bhattacharjee presided over the meeting. K G Jayaraj, general secretary submitted the report. V A N Namboodiri, general secretary, BSNL Employees Union spoke in the meeting on various issues.

The central committee also decided to conduct an extensive campaign to popularise the charter of demands approved in the national convention held on October 21, 2009.
