Prakash
Karat Condoles Prabhash Joshi�s Demise
The
following is the text of the condolence message sent by Prakash Karat,
CPI(M)
general secretary to Smt Usha Joshi on November
8, 2009
I
was deeply saddened to
hear the news of the passing away of Shri Prabhash Joshi. I can imagine how painful a loss it is for you and
your family, but Prabhash Joshi's loss is being keenly felt by a wide
circle of
people and society.
Prabhashji
was a person
of great talent who made a distinguished contribution in various
fields. He was
an outstanding journalist and he left his stamp on Hindi journalism
during the
editorship of Jansatta. He stood for
an independent media free from the influence of money power and State
patronage.
Shri
Prabhash Joshi was
a man of deep commitment to the values of social justice, democracy and
secularism. In the past number of years, he was associated with
innumerable
social causes and actively participated in movements to defend the
rights of
the oppressed people and national sovereignty.
Public
life will be
poorer due to his absence.
While
mourning his
death, we should cherish the example of his life and work. I convey to
you and
the family my heartfelt condolences in this hour of grief.
