Reception
Committee Formed For AIKS National Conference
TO make success the AIKS national conference
to be
held in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh in January 2010, a reception committee
was
formed on July 1, 2009. On this occasion there was a preparatory
meeting in
which AIKS general secretary K Varadarajan participated. The meeting
was in
coincidence with the third death anniversary of Kisan Sabha leader and
former
member of Polit Bureau of CPI(M) Comrade Koratala Satyanarayana.
Speaking on
the occasion, Varadarajan distinguished between co-operative
agriculture and
corporatisation of agriculture. He alerted the farming community that
the
governments in different states including that of Andhra Pradesh are
advancing
corporatisation of agriculture in the name of cooperative agriculture.
He was
against the possible evictions of farmers from the land to facilitate
the
corporatisation of agriculture. AIKS all
On this occasion, Kisan Movement
in Andhra Pradesh penned by S Malla Reddy was
released. In this book, Malla Reddy described the prominent agrarian
movements
led by Kisan Sabha. The book was dedicated to the memory of Comrade
Koratala. Another
book by agricultural scientist, Professor N Venugopal, Can�t
we extend cooperation to Agriculture in Crisis was
also released.
A 200 member reception committee was formed
with
people from all walks of life. Nuziveedu Seeds Limited MD and Acharya N
G Ranga
Agricultural University (ANGRAU) board of director M Prabhakara Rao is
the
honorary president of the reception committee. Prominent agricultural
scientist
Professor N Venugopal is the president and AIKS Guntur district
secretary P Narasimha
Rao is the general secretary of the reception committee. ANGRAU
director
Satyanarayana Reddy, Dr Bommidala Krishna Murty, M Lakshamaiah are the
honorary
advisors. Tulasi Ramachandra Prabu is the honorary
secretary and K S Lakshman Rao, member
of the AP legislative council is the vice president. Ministers of state
government representing Guntur - D M Varaprasad, minister for
education, K
Lakshminarayana, minister for industries, Dada Venkat Reddy, minister
for
endowment, M Venkataraman, minister for technical education, member of
parliament
R Sambasiva Rao, M Venugopal Reddy and Panabaka Lakshmi,
representatives of
education institutions, mass organisations, agric based industrial
associations
and prominent individuals are the members of the reception committee.
