PB Homage To Comrade Sanzgiri
THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its deep grief at the passing away of Comrade Prabhakar Sanzgiri, veteran leader of the party. Comrade Sanzgiri was a former secretary of the Maharashtra state committee of the CPI(M) and a former member of its Central Committee.
Comrade Sanzgiri joined the party in 1941 while being active in the student movement against British imperialism. He became an organiser of the working class movement and rose to be a prominent trade union leader. He served as the president of the state CITU and its all-India vice president for a long time. Comrade Sanzgiri will always be remembered for his contribution to the working class movement.
Comrade Sanzgiri spent five and a half years in jail during his revolutionary career. He was well versed in Marxist theory and was a brilliant writer in Marathi. His death is a big loss to the party and the working class movement in Maharashtra.
The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt condolences to his wife Suman Sanzgiri and his children.
