SFI & DYFI Stage A Militant Demo In front Of Israeli Embassy

ACTIVISTS of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a militant demonstration in front of the Israeli embassy in New Delhi on January 5, 2009 protesting against the invasion of the Gaza Strip by the Zionist state. The protestors threw shoes at the embassy, shouted slogans and burnt the Israeli flag. The protesters were arrested by the police and taken to Tughlak Road police station.

SFI and DYFI demanded immediate withdrawal of the marauding Israeli army from the Gaza strip and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian resistance. SFI and DYFI also condemned the hypocrisy of the United States in condoning Israeli state terrorism and for blocking the UN Security Council resolution demanding immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Elsewhere in Kolkata, a huge procession was organised by the SFI and DYFI Kolkata district committees, which marched from Lenin's statue in Esplanade to the USIS complex. Senior leaders of the SFI and DYFI condemned the Israeli aggression and called upon the government of India to immediately suspend security ties with the Zionist state. Similar protests were also held in Kerala and Tripura.
