SFI, DYFI Congratulate ISRO Scientists

THE Students Federation of India (SFI) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) have congratulated the scientists and technicians of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), associated with Indias Chandrayaan project, on their seminal achievement. The two organisations opined that the successful landing of Chandrayaan-1 on the lunar surface is without any doubt a great event in the history of Indias space research and that, with this historic event, India has confirmed its position as the fifth country to achieve this feat. So far, only the former USSR, USA, Japan and European Space Agency have attained this glory.

The SFI-DYFI opinion on the success of the Chandrayaan project has come through their joint statement, issued from New Delhi, November 15, by their general secretaries, Tapas Sinha and Ritabrata Banerjee, respectively.

The statement recalled that India had placed its flag on the top of the Mount Everest long back and the Antarctica too has recorded the Indian footprints, adding that now the lunar surface, 3,86,000 kilometres away from the earth, also bears testimony of Indias success in space research.

This historic incident, the statement asserted, has sent also a clear message that the Indian scientists do not need the help of any big powers in proving their intellect. (INN)
