SFI All India Conference From Sept 27-30

THE central executive committee of the Students Federation of India in a press statement on September 24, 2008 condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Delhi and demanded the government to take steps to protect the lives of the people and maintain peace in the country. The recent encounter in Jamia nagar and the arrests made in this connection are creating a sense of insecurity among the minority community. The government should also ensure that in the name of fighting terror, the entire Muslim community or region should not be branded as terrorists. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that the minorities are not harassed. The real culprits should be brought to book and punished according to the law of the land but this entire process has to be transparent and police should be accountable for their actions. For this, a judicial enquiry into the encounter in Jamia nagar has to be ordered so that the truth behind the encounter and the arrests comes out.
