CPP Condemns US-NATO Attacks Inside Pakistan
SEVERELY condemning the increasing US-NATO attacks inside the territory of Pakistan, the Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) has said these cross-boarder acts of American and NATO forces would result in an increase in extremism instead of eliminating it, and that such acts should not be tolerated.
In a statement issued by its member, Imdad Qazi, the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Pakistan wondered how Pakistan could remain independent and sovereign when it is a subservient state, politically and economically. If the Pakistani military establishment, jointly with America, had been playing a bloody game in the neighbouring countries, especially in Afghanistan, the CPP said now the same game is being played on the soil of Pakistan.
The party has urged the progressive and anti-imperialist forces to unite and agitate against such actions, otherwise Pakistan is likely to become a battle filed between the US and its allies on the one hand and religious extremists on the other.
The party has pointed out that military establishment has not yet stopped its involvement in politics and is waiting to see when the situation becomes suitable for its intervention and capture of power. It asked the government of Pakistan to demand an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on such acts against the countrys sovereignty. The government, the CPP said, must also protect the north-western boarders and the people living there. Also, the statement added, the government must expel all terrorists from the country and defeat their allies politically, with the support of the people.
HONOUR KILLINGS
Through another statement earlier, the CPP had condemned the engraving of five women alive in Balochistan in the name of honour. One notes that this brutal act was exposed only after human rights activists came to know about it.
Terming it as an insult to humanity, the CPP said it was the worst and cruellest kind of expression of the feudal system prevalent in Balochistan. Moreover, such wicked acts are being termed as the Baloch tradition and cultural trait, and being strongly defended, by the Baloch feudal lords who are anxious to safeguard their stakes in the system. The CPP has demanded that all the feudal elements personally involved in this heinous act, and those supporting them, must be given exemplary punishments.
The CPP said the administration and the judiciary must take exemplary actions to prevent in future such acts against the vulnerable people and groups. Ceaseless struggle should continue against feudalism and tribalism in order to put an end to such acts forever. Unless and until this worst and wicked system is alive at the ground level, the CPP opined, such acts of killing the innocent in the name of honour would keep recurring in different parts of the country.
