SFI Welcomes Judgement On OBC Reservations

The SFI CEC issued the following statement on ..

The central executive committee of the Students� Federation of India (SFI) welcomes the Supreme Court verdict on the OBC reservations. This judgement clears the hurdles for the implementation of the OBC reservations in all the central educational institutes. The government should immediately take steps for its implementation from this academic year itself.

The government should follow the same criteria for the OBC reservations in educational institutions, as is being followed in reservations for jobs. The government should now immediately take steps to ensure that reservations are implemented even in private educational institutions, the real purpose for the 93^rd Constitutional amendment. The government should also enact a central legislation to ensure social control over unaided private educational institutions to regulate their admission process, ensure control over fees collected and the course content.

SFI calls upon all the students to stand united and carry on the struggle to achieve these demands and also ensure that the reservations are implemented from this academic year itself.
