Remembering Che: Artists Plan Exhibition In Delhi
THE fortieth death anniversary of Che Guevara will be observed by the 'National Committee for Solidarity with Cuba' at Travancore House on Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi, on October 8 - 9 with an exhibition 'Ernesto Che Guevara’ curated by CPI(M) central committee member Suneet Chopra. Seventeen young artists are participating in the exhibition. They have either taken the image of Che as an inspiration to youth or from his writings, like Atul Sinha’s sculpture, which was inspired by Che's “Motorcycle Diaries”. Every work reflects the impact of Che's life on a young creative mind.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by the Cuban ambassador Miguel Angelo Ramirez. There will also be a poetry recital by well known poets of the capital and a documentary on Che will be shown. The function will also issue a call for the release of the five heroes of Cuba imprisoned by the USA as they fought to prevent acts of terrorism against innocent people in Cuba by the CIA-led Miami mafia with self confessed murderers like Bosch and Cariles.
The artists participating in the exhibition are: Atul Sinha, Ankur Rana, Anoop Kamath, Chand Mohammad, Devajyoti Ray, Dharmendra Rathore, Manoj Nayak, Mohan Singh Mekhla Harrison, Nand Kishore, Ritu Singh, Ruchika W Singh Sabha Hasan, Sunil Kumar Ijayata Bhanri, Vijender Sharma and Yati Jayaswal.
