THE Communist Party of India (Marxist) provided a relief of Rs 52.5 lakhs to the families of the seven martyrs who died in the brutal police firing at Mudigonda in Khammam district and to others who were injured.

On September 27, 2007 at an extended district meeting of the Party held in Khammam, the relief was handed over to 49 members of the families of the victims. Polit Bureau member and state secretary B V Raghavulu, Vijayaraghavan, Central Committee member and MP, Thammineni Veerabhadram, Central Committee member and other leaders of the CPI(M), Dr Y Radhakrishna Murthy, M Subba Rao and MLA Sunnam Rajayya handed over the economic relief. CPI(M) district secretary, P Sudarsan Rao, T S Prasad, chairman of the DCCB and other leaders participated in the programme.

Raghavulu talked to each and every member of the families of the victims who had come to receive the relief and inquired about the health condition of the individual victims, where and how medical treatment was being given to them and the conditions of their families and where they got employment. Some of the members complained to Raghavulu that they could not get employment commensurate to their qualifications. Promising to take up the matter with the government, Raghavulu assured the members of the families of the victims that the CPI(M) would always stand in their support. Whenever they face any difficulty, they can come and meet the leaders of the Party, assured Raghavulu. He asserted that their sacrifices would not go in vain and they would get the benefits for which the land struggle was launched.
