New Mining Policy
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statements on July 7, 2007.
THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) disapproves of the proposed mining policy approved by the Group of Ministers. Under this policy unrestricted export of iron ore will be allowed. This would be a shortsighted and harmful policy. Indiscriminate exports of iron ore and other mineral resources will denude India of its natural resources.
The Polit Bureau demands that the mining policy not be approved by the Union Cabinet and be placed before Parliament for further discussion.
