Failure On Unemployment Front: DYFI
THE union budget 2007-08 fails to address the biggest problem of unemployment facing the youth who constitute the majority of our population. This budget once again has kept its focus on safeguarding the interests of the rich and has nothing to offer to the majority of youth who are poor.
For the youth of our country who were expecting a concrete announcement regarding the measures for employment generation, this budget comes as a disappointment in absence of such an announcement. Even the sum total of expenditure on NREGS and Gramin Rojgar Yojna is just 7 per cent which amounts to stagnation in real terms.
The number of districts covered by the NREGS is proposed to be increased to 330 from 200, but the outlay has been increased by an amount of Rs 700 crore only.
The central executive committee of DYFI calls for organising protest against this anti-people, anti-youth budget on March 5, to demand that there should be a proper enhancement in the plan outlay in order to meet the commitments with regard to employment generation, education and health.
