A Touching Farewell To Comrade Chittabrata

THE CPI(M) headquarters on Friday, gave a touching farewell to Comrade Chittabrata Majumdar, Polit Bureau member and general secretary of CITU and MP who expired in Kolkata while undergoing treatment on February 20, 2007.

 

The speakers at the condolence meeting held in AKG Bhavan included CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat, Polit Bureau members M K Pandhe and Sitaram Yechury. They brought into spotlight the multi-faceted ‘Chittoda’ who had worked for the Party with great dedication, simplicity and always brought a degree of clear understanding on a variety of issues. His role from the student movement days to organising the trade union movement in West Bengal and his important contributions even as a minister in the West Bengal government were recalled. His mastery over modern technology was underlined. The speakers also recalled his firm grasp of the impact of globalisation policies and how to deal with the prevailing situation. 

 

The meeting was informed of the messages received from all over the country and from abroad. 

 

A condolence resolution adopted at the meeting recalled Comrade Chittabrata Majumdar’s tireless dedication to the Party and his integrity, simplicity and commitment. It conveyed heartfelt sympathy to his wife Sabitri and daughter Barshana.

 

On February 26, the CITU centre organised a mass condolence meeting on the lawns of Vitthal Bhai Patel House, New Delhi in remembrance of Comrade Chittabrata Majumdar. (INN)
