Condemn ULFA Killings

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on January 7, 2006.

THE Polit Bureau expresses shock and outrage at the mass killings in Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and Dhemagi districts of Assam. Forty-eight people have been killed by Ulfa gangs.

The Ulfa has once again shown its reactionary character by targetting poor workers who have come to Assam to earn a livelihood. Such dastardly acts will further isolate the Ulfa from the people of Assam. The state government has once again proved its incapacity to deal firmly with such terrorist activities. The Central government should take immediate steps to assist the state administration to firmly tackle the violent activities. The state government should call a meeting of all political parties so that a common stand can be evolved to deal with the problem.
