COMRADE SOYAM SATRADHARI

 

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on November 25, 2006

 

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its deep grief at the death of Comrade Soyam Satradhari, a veteran communist leader of Manipur. He was ninety years old.

 

Soyam Satradhari joined the freedom struggle as a member of the ‘Anushilan Samiti’. He went underground and undertaken jail life many times.

 

He was a founder member of Communist Party of India in Manipur in 1948. When the Communist Party was divided, he decided to continue in the CPI. Later on he joined CPI(M) and became a member of the Manipur state secretariat of the Party from 1973 to 1995. He was also an active member of the AIKS and elected to the CKC and AIKC. He was elected to the state assembly in 1952. During recent period, he was not able to actively participate in Party and Kisan Sabha work due to ill health. 

 

In his death, the communist movement in Manipur has suffered a big loss. The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) pays its respectful homage to his memory and conveys its heartfelt condolences to the Manipur state committee of the Party and his family members. (INN)
