PCP Delegation Meets CPI(M) Leadership

 

PCP general secretary having discussions with Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury at AKG Bhavan

 

THE general secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party, Jeronimo de Sousa and member of the Political Committee of the PCP’s Central Committee, Angelo Alves, visited the CPI(M) office on September 22, 2006 for talks with the CPI(M) leadership. CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat and member of the Polit Bureau, Sitaram Yechury met the PCP delegation. Jeronimo de Sousa reported about the developments in Portugal, the European Union and the PCP’s views on the international situation.

 

Prakash Karat welcomed the Portuguese delegation and underlined the close ties and common outlook of the PCP and the CPI(M). He explained the current political situation in the country and the role being played by the CPI(M) and the Left. Both sides decided to strengthen fraternal ties between the two parties. The CPI(M) leaders confirmed their participation in the international meeting of communist and workers parties in Lisbon in November.

 

The Portuguese delegation has come at the invitation of the CPI and has visited Goa and will also go to West Bengal. (INN)
